Silverstone

The Silverstone track, from August 5, will launch a British Grand Prix which will mark the big return to MotoGP after a five-week summer break. It will also be the start of the last part of the season, with nine events at the end of which the World Champion of this 2022 vintage will be crowned. For the moment, in the general classification, Yamaha official Fabio Quartararo is in the lead and therefore in a good position to keep a scepter acquired last year. But he fights with his back to the wall, alone against everyone and with an M1 which is a precision weapon only in his hands while the others rather ride surface-to-surface missiles faster than their shadow. Nothing is done and Yamaha has announced some more ammunition for this Battle of Britain…

fabio quartararo could have gotten away with a 10/10 by completing his first part of the campaign if, in the eleventh and final test, he had not got his feet caught in the carpet.Assen. A liability that he will only have to pay Silverstone, since, during the British Grand Prix, he will have to serve a long lap penalty in memory of the Batavian events. The Frenchman will then be observed and many already consider this English deadline as a test of solidity...

At Yamaha , we officially regretted this penalty to be suffered in high places, but the team manager Maio Meregalli also says that Silverstone, Iwata’s men will have a few things in their box for their M1: “ we want to try some things for Silverstone » says the Italian who, however, tempers any possible enthusiasm about a fatal weapon to be discovered: “ we have room for improvement in terms of top speed. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about it during the season ».

The same Meregalli recalls the line of conduct of Yamaha en MotoGP : " Yamaha's philosophy has always been not to start a revolution. We are showing again this year that it is a great advantage to start each Grand Prix with a lot of information from the past. We also made some improvements ". It will be recalled that this policy should no longer be favored with a view to 2023 and beyond, with an opening towards European skills and a desire for rapid reaction in the evolution of the sought-after motorcycle. At least, it was a speech that convinced Fabio Quartararo to extend its lease under the tuning fork awning until 2024.

Silverstone should set the tone for the rest of the season

Exactly, fabio quartararo... It is both the great solution, but also the revealer of another problem which is causing the ranks of Yamaha  : “ Sadly, only Fabio is currently capable of getting everything out of the bike » says the team manager who at the same time points out: “ there are more problems on the other side of the box. We had high expectations with Franky Morbidelli. We know him, he has a very strong will. We are sure that together we can bring it back to the forefront ».

The 51-year-old Italian ends by delivering the strategy to follow for the final fight to come: “ we watch from race to race. Our goals and expectations are always the same. It is important to be regular. But above all, it's about being the first ". With only one knight on the board while at Aprilia and undoubtedly at Ducati, we will be able to play as a team, the game promises to be close.
