Johann Zarco certainly has a clearer vision of his future in MotoGP than he had just a year ago, at this time. The Frenchman was then waiting, with an Avintia project on a Ducati which, on paper, seemed to be a swan song. Instead, it was rather the Phoenix rising from the ashes that was played and the double World Champion found the nest to take flight again. He remembers …

Johann zarco finished thirteenth last championship MotoGP, but he certainly gets more satisfaction from it than his compatriot fabio quartararo who ranked eighth in the same general classification. And for good reason: if he hasn't won three times like the pilot Yamaha , he won a great victory: that of relaunching his career, in a rut after a few months spent at KTM as an official.

A parenthesis with the Austrian motorcycle whose bad scenario was written from the first turns of the wheels. An experience which made him fear the first contact with the Ducati GP19. A discovery which fortunately reassured him, which immediately launched his new challenge on good foundations.

Johann zarco remembers: “ A year ago I had doubts, but already at the Malaysian test, I understood that everything would be finenot. The technical base of the bike gave me more confidence from the start. It was already positive. You will then be able to ride more on this positive attitude. The team also appreciated the way I adapted ».

He specifies : " my doubts were not about mechanics, but rather about controlling the overall situation ". But there too, assurances came: “ Ducati told me they were behind it, and they showed it to me ».

Everything came to light in Brno for Zarco

The initial elements validated, all that was missing was a good result to put the project on the right track. And it happened in the third race in Brno, marked by a pole position and a podium: “ the pole position and the podium in the third race gave me confidence in my abilities », confirms the tricolor. “ I couldn't do it again, but this race was a clear vision that together we could achieve something interesting ».

He finishes : " the challenge was to get back to the next level and get a competitive bike. Since Misano it was clear, even if I didn't yet know if it would be the factory team or Pramac, that I was going to have the same bike as the officials ". It will be recalled that John Zarco is a double Moto2 world champion. With 16 victories, he is the French rider who has achieved the most in the motorcycle Grand Prix, even if he has yet to score any success in the premier category.
