Darryn binder

The team manager of Razlan Razali's RNF team looks back on the 2022 season, insisting that rookie Darryn Binder's performance was anything but disappointing. Parachuted from Moto3, the South African did well in a not easy context aboard a Yamaha even further in terms of evolution than the other three on the track which had already been more or less frozen since 2019... Unlike Jack Miller, who was the latest to have made the big leap, under the leadership of Honda, from the entry category of Grands Prix to the elite, Brad's brother, a KTM rider, did not was not supported by a major manufacturer. He even trained in the most modest of private structures... So Zeelenberg does not forget him.

In his analysis of the 2022 season which will have marked, for his RNF team, as for himself, the end of the relationship with Yamaha to start another adventure with Aprilia, Wilco Zeelenberg insists on the performance of the rookie Darryn binder. And firstly because the South African had to learn MotoGP in a crisis situation: “ 2022, honestly, it was a tough time for all of us. Unfortunately, we were unable to achieve the sporting goals we set for this year, but, as we know, we can learn a lot from experience and even more from complicated situations ».

« Darryn Binder proved to be the right choice«

In the face of such adversity, Darryn binder has undoubtedly assimilated a lot… Zeelenberg confirms this: “ we are very happy that Darryn was the right choice for us. He worked hard throughout the year. He always started from zero, but did incredible things. With his best race in Indonesia, he really impressed and it wasn't just the team ". He adds : " on the negative side, his learning also included several accidents that robbed him of much of his confidence. So it was very sad to see him end the year in Valencia like that ».

« However, we must be proud of what he did and how he worked with the whole team » insists Zeelenberg which concludes with motorcyclesports : " we wish him the best for his new adventure in Moto2 and hope he can benefit from the experience gained with us ».

Darryn binder is certainly the one who regrets the greatest number of falls during this year 2022, but he has scored points three times this season: in Indonesia, Catalonia and Australia. He finished seven races. His best result was in Mandalika, Indonesia, with a 10th place finish in wet conditions.
