MotorSport Vision (MSV) is delighted to unveil an extensive multi-million euro redevelopment program for its Circuito de Navarra facility in northern Spain, which will be completed in 2024.

The main changes include major improvements to the circuit layout itself, extensive resurfacing work which will also remove bumps, improve run-off and generally improve the safety features of the venue.

MSV has opted for a two-stage approach to this work to ensure the minimum possible disruption to scheduled circuit activity, while also reducing the risk of weather-related delays. The first phase of the project is already underway, with work on the circuit starting early in the new year and expected to be completed by mid-March, ahead of the 2024 racing season, which begins with the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on April 20/21.

The second phase of work will begin in July and end at the end of August, a traditionally quiet period in Spain.

The most significant change will be the creation of a significantly revised and improved new route, extending the existing configuration from 3,9 km to 4,3 km at the end of the second phase. Designed in partnership with Driven International, these changes will make the circuit faster and smoother, and therefore much more satisfying to ride and ride. During the initial first phase, Turn 6 will be re-profiled from a slow left-hander to a much faster one and will effectively be a continuation of Turn 5, with drainage and trackside runoff adjusted accordingly.

During the second phase of work, a 650 meter extension will be created, including a new straight after turn 10, then a completely new sequence of corners. These will start with a banked hairpin at turn 11, which will also create more overtaking opportunities. This will lead to a fast and challenging new right-left corner sequence in Turns 12 and 13. The new section of the circuit will be equipped with new sidewalks, with run-off zones and safety features adapted to the updated layout.

Other key changes during the first phase of the ongoing works include a major resurfacing, with the removal of some long-established bumps, particularly at the start/finish line and on the approach to the corner 5. Resurfacing will extend before the start/finish line. to Turn 2, then from the approach to Turn 5 until after Turn 7. The run-off area at the existing Turn 13 will also be extended during the initial stages of work, with realignment of barriers also planned.

Broader changes planned for the first phase include the installation of EM light panels as part of a wider upgrade of marshalling and security systems. These are being installed alongside an improved CCTV network at venues and the phased replacement and upgrading of marshal stations.

This two-phase circuit upgrade represents the most significant improvements to the venue since it joined MSV's circuit portfolio in November 2022. Previous changes included a complete refurbishment of the Paddock Bar and Restaurant, Race Control and VIP suites, as well as exterior aesthetics. revision and other changes to key details.

Jonathan Palmer, Managing Director of MSV, said: “When MSV took over the Circuito de Navarra at the end of 2022, it was already an impressive facility. But it was clear to me that his potential was much greater. Throughout the last year we have invested heavily in improving the presentation and operation of the venue to achieve the highest standards that MSV is renowned for.

“Of course, the essence of a circuit is its layout. When we acquired the Circuito de Navarra, I really wanted to understand what it was like to drive, so I arranged to drive a GT3 car for several laps. It was great fun, with some exciting elevation changes, but it was clear to me that it could be even better by changing the layout to make it faster and smoother – there were too many slow corners. I then worked on ideas for a revised layout and, after sketching them, worked with Driven International to refine them.

“We then went further and asked Driven to produce in-car simulations with F4, F1 and GT3 cars, to ensure the new corners would achieve what I wanted for a range of cars, particularly the new T12s. /T13. S-leaning to be super fast, just step on the accelerator or lightly brake – these are always the most exhilarating corners to drive!

“It was also clear from speaking with customers that removing old dents in key areas was a priority. So we will redo them in the first phase, using the latest technology to achieve a smooth racing surface.

“These changes will really help to make the Circuito de Navarra not only a good circuit, but also a great circuit, for riders and riders alike. I can't wait to try out the new layout myself in September, and especially to hear the reactions from our customers who use it! »
