The MotoGP front row, Valentino Rossi, Maverick Vinales and Andrea Iannone, as well as the Moto2 and Moto3 polemen, Sam Lowes and Romano Fenati were invited to this post-qualifying press conference for the 2016 Italian Grand Prix.

In order to avoid any abusive journalistic interpretation, we offer here a “raw” translation of the entirety of Andrea Iannone’s remarks.

A little disappointed not to have pole even though you led the other sessions?

“I'm still very happy because I'm starting from the front row and that's always important. And in particular at Mugello because it is very difficult to overtake there, especially in races because there is generally a little less grip. Because of that, it is very important for me to go to the front line. Yes, last year we started from pole position, but this year I did my best and it was really very difficult. I took a lot of risks during my fast lap but, I don't know: I think I tried my best and it was very difficult to improve my time.
On the other hand, I'm very happy because we improved the bike session after session, and the team worked very well. And I think that's the most important thing for the race. »

The departure will be crucial…

“Yes, yes, I think that tomorrow it will be an incredible race because the start will be really very important. And Vale and Maverick, but also Jorge and Marc, I think have a very good pace for the race, and I think it will be an incredible fight and a very difficult race. »

It’s been an incredible week for me and you hope to finish on the podium tomorrow…

“I hope so because it has been very difficult in the last few races. We always had very good potential before the race, but during the race… good! I also crashed at Le Mans, so this year it's very difficult in racing for us. But we hope it will be better tomorrow. »

This year, everyone who started from pole won; what do you think and what do you expect?

" I don't know. I think it is (?). Obviously, I have high expectations from tomorrow's race because we showed great potential throughout the weekend, as well as good speed, and I have a very good feeling with the bike which I have also improved. with the very good work of my team. But I think the first five drivers are very close and it will be a very difficult race tomorrow because Mugello is also difficult in terms of physical condition. But of course, we will try to do our best. »
