There has been a lot of talk about it but, until now, it was only a matter of including the famous MV Agusta name on the Moto2s of the Forward Racing team, a possibility refused by Kalex (See here).

This time, the project seems on a different scale and corroborates a desire already reported here, because according to the Italian media Motorcycling, it would indeed be a question of seeing the legendary transalpine firm building its own machines and fielding them in the intermediate category, after 42 years of absence in competition.

Giovanni castiglioni has confirmed that the House of Schiranna will take its first steps in Moto2 next year, with the support of a team with great experience already present in the world championship for almost 10 years.
The boss of MV Agusta had to reject options like Marc VDS or Pons in favor of another team which, according to him, is able to work in great synergy for this new challenge for the Italian brand. We obviously think of Forward Racing…
No indiscretions were made regarding the pilots, however MV Agusta would be present at one of the next two IRTA tests, which will take place on June 18 in Montmelò and August 6 in Brno.
Like KTM, the Moto2 World Championship is becoming more and more important for motorcycle manufacturers. MV Agusta can already count on extensive experience in Supersport with its 3-cylinder, and is already working to adapt a cycle part to the Triumph 765cc engine which will be standard from 2019.
Thus, after 42 long years of absence, MV Agusta would therefore return to the World Championship, with 37 world constructors' titles acquired between the 50s and 70s with Phil Read, John Surtees, but above all Giacomo Agostini.
