Scary moments during the North West 200 Superbike race, when the rear tire of the Suzuki driven by MD6 – Mickael Dunlop – explodes in one of the fastest sections of the street circuit. All drivers equipped with Dunlop tires will then be banned from participating in the final race of the event, but the risk taken by road drivers was very high, as this amateur video shows.

According to a press release from the event organization, Dunlop discovered a defect in one of the batches of its slick tires intended for the Superbike category. For safety reasons, Dunlop informed the organization of the event, which, in turn, prohibited drivers using these tires from starting the last race of the event, which, by the way, counts the greatest number of turns.

Among the drivers affected by this problem are names like Michael Dunlop, Michael Rutter, Dean Harrison, Peter Hickman, Brian McCormack, Sam West, among others. Fortunately, apart from understandable anger, no pilot was injured despite the falls caused, but the end could have been much worse. With the Tourist Trophy approaching, taking such a risk in one of the most important road races of the season is out of the question.
