We have just verified the information published last night by the site sport.sky.it  which exclusively announces that the new front tire from the French brand, made up of a more rigid carcass than the current one but equipped with the 2017 profile, was approved by 66% of the drivers after the test in Jerez. A percentage that seems very popular at the moment…

Consequently, this new front tire will be part of the tire allocation provided to drivers from Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.

Originally claimed by Andrea Iannone and Valentino Rossi, this tire had already been tested by the latter as well as Maverick Vinales and Cal Crutchlow during driving at Le Mans last week (see here). However, given the non-ideal track conditions, no real assessment could be finalized.

According to the reactions obtained yesterday during the test in Jerez, we can suppose that Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi, Maverick Vinales, Cal Crutchlow, Andrea Iannone, Johann Zarco, Jonas Folger, Andrea Dovizioso, Aleix Espargaro, Jack Miller, Hector Barbera, Tito Rabat and Sam Lowes had to vote “yes”, while Jorge Lorenzo, Danilo Petrucci, Scott Redding and Loris Baz, undoubtedly did the opposite.

Materially, it is Loris Capirossi who went around the boxes and collected the answers.

An official press release will be released today.
