Yamaha and Pramac Racing announced a major new alliance this Friday, marking the end of a relationship of more than 20 years between Pramac and Ducati. From the next MotoGP season, Pramac will begin an exciting adventure with Yamaha thanks to a multi-year contract which extends until the end of 2031.

The official press release from Yamaha indicates that Pramac Racing will become a “second factory team” while retaining its independence. It means that Paolo CampinotiOwner Pramac, will maintain control of his team, but with technical and human support identical to that of the Monster Energy Team within Yamaha.

Pramac Racing will have two factory YZR-M1s, benefiting from real-time updates and new features, identical to those of the official team. The future Pramac drivers, whose names have not yet been announced, will be under Yamaha contract. In addition, the Japanese brand will provide engineering and mechanical personnel while integrating current Pramac staff. The team's headquarters will remain in Rugby, United Kingdom.

« It's a busy time for Yamaha, both on the track and behind the scenes, " said Lynn Jarvis. " Yamaha Motor Co. (YMC) and Yamaha Motor Racing (YMR) have made no secret of their efforts to develop the motorcycle. We are now entering a crucial phase: the arrival of a second Yamaha team."

Lin Jarvis: “ we supply Pramac Racing with factory motorcycles of the same specification as those used by the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team »

Jarvis pointed out that " the partnership with Prima Pramac Racing will take a different shape. Rather than a satellite team, we supply Pramac Racing with factory motorcycles of the same specification as those used by the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team."

The objectives of this partnership are clear: accelerate the development of the motorcycle and field four competitive riders in two leading teams. “ Our priority is to get back on the path to victory, " added Jarvis.

What's more, a new Moto2 team will be created in collaboration with Pramac to serve as a breeding ground for talent. “ It is too early to give details on this program, but it will be developed in the coming months,” said Jarvis.

« I would like to express my gratitude to Paolo Campinoti and Gino Borsoi for their faith and trust in Yamaha. We have the utmost respect for their team and are committed to ensuring the success of this partnership for many years to come, " concluded Jarvis.

This partnership promises to redefine the balance of power in MotoGP, offering Iwata's brand an opportunity to return to the top and Pramac a new era of competitiveness.
