As feared for two days, Team Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Bradley Smith will unfortunately miss his Grand Prix at Silverstone, as well as the San Marino Grand Prix after an accident during a practice session for the 8 Hours of Oschersleben, the last week, which caused damage to the ligaments in his right knee.
As a result, the team Monster Yamaha Tech3 announces that the rider of the official Pata Yamaha World Superbike Team, Alex Lowes, replace Smith for two races, having recently tried the Tech3 Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP for the first time during the Czech Republic post-GP test lasting 15 laps.
Tests which ended with a small, harmless fall and at the end of which Alex Lowes declared that he was living a dream.
The 25-year-old English rider is currently in his third full season in the World Superbike series, where he has achieved three podiums. Lowes was also part of the Racing Team Yamaha Factory 2016 which dominated the Suzuka 8 Hours.
Team Tech3 would like to thank Paul Denning and the official Pata Yamaha World Superbike Team for their cooperation in allowing Lowes to pilot, and would also like to wish for a rapid and complete recovery to Bradley Smith .
