It's official: Danilo Petrucci will be replaced by Michele Pirro (and not Casey Stoner) in Argentina.

Pirro will then replace him while he regains his physical condition. Some report that Danilo Petrucci would not be back before the French GP.

Octo Pramac Yakhnich: "Michele Pirro will replace Danilo Petrucci on the Ducati Desmosedici Gp Octo Pramac Yakhnich. The Ducati test rider will be present in Argentina for the second round of MotoGP 2016 and will ride until the return of Petrux who underwent surgery again on his right hand last Monday.

The explanations which have been published in the Italian press concerning the refusal of Casey Stoner to replace Danilo Petrucci have been numerous, from the lack of physical condition to complete an entire Grand Prix weekend to the impossibility of fitting a 2016 engine in the GP15 of the Italian team, through a friendship not as strong as that between the Australian driver and Dani Pedrosa.
Anyway, the result is there.

Technically, Michele Pirro and Danilo Petrucci will share the same engine allocation, i.e. 7 maximum this year.
