As announced, the Sky VR46 team terminated its contract with Romano Fenati and finally chose Lorenzo Dalla Porta to replace him.
“Finally” only because initially, it was on Niccolo Antonelli that the Doctor's choice fell, since he was already part of the VR46 Riders Academy, but the deal could not take place, Honda having put its veto.
For contractual reasons, Lorenzo Dallo Porta will not be able to make his debut at Brno, but only at Silverstone.

Brno (Czech Republic), August 18, 2016 – After the suspension that occurred during the Austrian GP, the relationship between Romano Fenati and the Sky Racing Team VR46 was definitively interrupted during the competition in Brno. At the end of three years of work and success together, we wish Romano the best professional and sporting future.
Sky and Valentino Rossi's VR46 continue to work with the objective of growing young Italian motorcycling talents. Lorenzo Dalla Porta will take the handlebars of the Moto3 team's KTM, alongside Andrea Migno and Nicolò Bulega, until the end of the season. Aged 19 and born in Prato, who started in the World Cup in 2015 after experience in CEV and participated in two races this year (Italian GP and Dutch GP), he will be on track during competition at Silverstone on first weekend of September. For Brno, no replacement is planned.
