The double world champion Casey Stoner saw his $4 million home destroyed by the storm that hit Australia's Gold Coast, in the southeast of the country.
It has now been a week since strong storms have been coming in waves on the Gold Coast, south of Brisbane, known for its long sandy beaches, surf spots and theme parks. This is where Casey Stoner bought a splendid villa in 2016 for the supposed sum of 2,7 million Australian dollars, almost half of his previous residence.
The estate is on Kriedeman Rd in Upper Coomera, in a residential area near Brisbane, and was owned by the former owner of a V8 Supercar team, a popular sport in Australia. Very spectacular and further inland than the previous one, it nevertheless has all the possible comforts, from a pavilion for guests to a caretaker's house, including a helipad somewhere on the 4,5 hectares of the property.
Unfortunately, very strong storms have ravaged the region for several days and the wooden part of the villa did not resist.
On the Social Media, the Australian icon says, “I'm not sure anyone knows how bad the storm was in some areas of the Gold Coast last night. The photos don't do justice to the amount of damage in our area, and if you have hands available to help people who have lost their homes, I know there is a huge need for help. We are lucky that everyone in our house is safe and sound and, even though our property has suffered a lot of damage, we are not the worst off! »
His first comments did not include images, the telephone network being down. But he could, Casey Stoner shared a glimpse of the damage…
As the man who retired at the top of his art points out, the important thing is that no one was injured among the Stoners, which is unfortunately not the case for everyone since three deaths were deplored, as well as two men struck by lightning. It is currently summer in Australia and anticipated temperatures are expected to exceed 40° in this region, causing these extremely violent storms, with rain and hail.
