Since Thursday, in the team's hospitality MotoGP Honda LCR currently installed in the paddock of Misano, sits a helmet in the colors of Johann zarco, completely covered in Swarovski crystals!
Intrigued by the object, which is not very discreet to say the least, we went to interview some people from the workshop that created this work. Indeed, behind the name Brandy Roger is not an artist, but rather a team that has created a brand that is part of the world of creative furniture. Brandy Roger was born from the idea of merging adventure and conviviality, as explained on their website: « d'hence the name Brandy Roger, in which Brandy takes as a reference the famous liqueur that represents those moments of sharing and conviviality where enjoying life and its beauty is celebrated in company. Brandy is therefore not just a liqueur, but is the spokesperson for a style of elegance and luxury to be shared with our loved ones in welcoming and refined environments. While Roger is inspired by "Jolly Roger", the symbol of the pirate par excellence, driven by enthusiasm for adventure and the nonconformist and rebellious determination typical of pirates always in search of precious and unique treasures. The pirate nature of Brandy Roger pushes him towards new perspectives, new horizons to explore and new treasures to discover.
So. More concretely, just the work of hand-gluing the Swarovski crystals lasted more than a month, for an estimated cost of 10 euros, helmet not included.
The aim is to promote the young company based in the Aosta Valley, which has already produced several other creations and travels to various trade fairs across Europe.
Regarding MotoGP, we understood that according to the same principle, we would "perhaps" be able to admire a helmet in the colors of Takaaki Nakagami in Valencia. As for this one, it could well end up on a shelf of Johann zarco, but only for decorative purposes, since the thickness of the artificial glitter prevents the visor from being raised…
Asked about the subject, the person concerned told us: "I didn't know about it but it's nice that my helmet was selected. I haven't worn it but it must be heavy, and you can't open the visor otherwise I think you lose 500 euros (laughs). I found out about it yesterday but it's cool. Whoever is managing it is trying to get me to have it for Valencia."
We remember that Jorge Lorenzo celebrated his world title in 2010 with a small part of his helmet comprising 1800 of the same crystals, but this is really on a whole other level...
