October 10, 2024 marked the inauguration of the new headquarters of the FIM next to its previous headquarters in Mies (Switzerland), the International Motorcycling Federation has been established in the Vaud region for almost thirty years.

The president of the FIM, Jorge Viegas, celebrated the success of this project by cutting the ribbon in the presence of four hundred distinguished guests. Among them, the promoters of the FIM World Championships and Cups, legendary champions, including the fifteenth World Champion Giacomo Agostini, major local and international media, FIM partners as well as FIM members.

Before the official opening, guests were treated to a show by two trial titans outside the new headquarters: Toni Bou, 36 times world champion, and Emma Bristow, 10-time world champions, showcased their skills and talent, providing a thrilling spectacle.

The design of the new FIM headquarters embodies the essence of motorcycling, reflecting the values ​​and spirit of the sport, as well as the brotherhood, collaboration and communication that unites the passionate motorcycling community. The FIM has prioritised environmentally friendly construction materials by choosing low-carbon, bio-sourced, geo-sourced and reused options, in line with Swiss standards.

The new headquarters represents a dynamic and positive future for the FIM, where those who will live within its walls characterise the one hundred and twenty-one national federations, the six continental unions and almost four hundred people, who work collectively every week to ensure that millions of fans around the world can enjoy the great spectacle that is modern motorcycling sport.

The striking new structure also incorporates the new FIM Tech Lab, which is the pinnacle of motorcycling innovation and is used to showcase the FIM’s core values. This space dedicated to technology and safety significantly enhances the character of the new building.

The structure of the new building includes 3 m500 of concrete and 3 m13 of framework with a total mass of 000 tonnes, more than 2 km of electrical, network and fibre optic cables, more than 385 windows, more than 40 m of piping and almost 230 m of pre-stressed beams.

This ambitious project was carried out thanks to the support of local partners, such as the Municipality of Mies, local communities and the Canton of Vaud, thus reflecting a common commitment to regional development.

Jorge Viegas, President of the FIM, said: “The new headquarters allows everyone who works at the FIM or for motorcycling around the world to benefit from a home worthy of the name that meets their needs. The architecture is as dynamic and vibrant as the experience of riding a motorcycle; it is full of transparency in line with my vision of the FIM; it is a building that breathes a space where more dreams can come true.”
