Dovizioso would have reason to show a hint of disappointment at the time of leaving Phillip Island. He experienced the frustration of finishing just off the podium and the victorious Crutchlow stole sixth place in the championship. And yet this is not the case. The native of Forlimpopoli is even rather happy with his fate.

To understand this satisfaction, we must put everything in context. Last year, Dovizioso had suffered in Australia and since the start of this season, he has continued to ask for a more docile Desmosedici. From there, finishing fourth in acceptable physical form is enough to put a smile on your face: “ I'm happy with my race even if I wasn't able to fight for the podium until the checkered flag. But my rear tire lost all effectiveness at the end and I preferred to let go rather than risk falling ».

« This fourth place is very positive and it is more important than it seems. We worked well with the team throughout the weekend. We have made constant progress. I won in the curves and in the straight and I was able to stay focused on my riding until the end while getting the best out of the bike in the parts of the track which were the most delicate for us ».

He insists : " the bike has really progressed and that makes me optimistic for the future. I had already felt this in Japan and it is a good signal. Except that here, I had a problem with the rear tire which did not detract from our good performance. We are now going to Malaysia which is one of my favorite circuits. The bitumen, however, is new so we will see if we are competitive there. ».

From his side Barbera tried to place seventh by participating in the battle of ragpickers which raged for this runner-up. Unfortunately, he made a mistake when attacking Miller. In Malaysia, he will find his GP14.2 since Iannone is announced on the return. During this time Pirro rides the 2017 version of the Desmosedici in Valencia. A next season which will see Lorenzo arrive at the reds.
