Even if it does not count for qualifying, we say, following the Moto3 qualifying which has just concluded in the dry, that this FP4 will perhaps be the only one during which the MotoGP riders will be able to work with a view to a race under the same conditions.

Perhaps the opportunity for the official Yamahas to get closer to a Marc Marquez who dominated last year and who has so far been able to evade all the pitfalls of very capricious Australian weather...

Like the start of the Moto3 qualifying, it is now a classic scenario of this 2016 Australian Grand Prix; All it takes is for the drivers to go out on slicks for the raindrops to appear!
Nicky Hayden however, had time to achieve a 1'26.810 before everyone returned to the box... and stayed there, because a sort of storm raised the red flag 19 minutes from the end of the session.

Despite rain and strong wind still present, the session resumed after a 25-minute interruption, except for Jack Miller et Yonny Hernandez who prefer to stay in the box.

The times are obviously much slower than that of Nicky Hayden at the start of the session, even if Marc Marquez comes close to 3,2 seconds and Loris Baz at 4,1.
