The Repsol Honda team drivers obviously suffered from the terrible weather conditions which marked the first day of this 2016 Australian Grand Prix. But, even if we cannot yet draw any lessons from it, we will note the solid start to the week -end of Marc Marquez and Nicky Hayden.

Marc Marquez, 4th, 1:41.511, 13 laps, 58 km: “Today was not one of the most fun days of the year. We were hoping for a rain-free day to have some fun on the bike after the Japanese Grand Prix, but that didn't happen. Although it rained all day, we did a few laps in the morning, but at the end of the session we had to stop because there was too much water on the track. This afternoon it was also raining, making it dangerous to go out, and that's why the red flag was brought out. We decided not to go out because it was an unnecessary risk. We hope that tomorrow the conditions will improve at least a little by having a little less water on the track, and we will continue to work for Sunday. »

Nicky Hayden, 9th, 1:43.012, 15 laps, 67 km: “The conditions were obviously not ideal today, but that happens sometimes. In the morning the bike worked well in the wet. I felt pretty comfortable and was just trying to be a little faster when it started to rain more heavily; there was too much water, and so I went back. Unfortunately I didn't do many laps today in these conditions, but the bike behaves well. I also improved my times during my second outing this morning, even though the track was less good compared to the start of the session, which is quite positive. Now we just wait and see what kind of conditions we will have, and we will try and spend as much time as possible on the track to understand the team and the bike more. Let's continue like this! »
