Miracle on Phillip Island! The sky is blue AND the track at 29° is dry, for this warm-up extended by 10 minutes due to the weather disturbances of the two previous days. Even if the wind is still present, we are certainly not going to be choosy!

This session will undoubtedly be very interesting to follow, in particular to see how the two official Yamahas and the Suzuki of Maverick Vinales will raise the bar on a completely dry track, in view of a race which should take place in the same conditions. At the other end of the ranking, Marc Marquez apparently dominates quite easily.

The first minutes see Marc Marquez et Valentino Rossi to compete for leadership, which provides a first answer to our questions. The second is provided by Maverick Vinales, 3rd after 10 minutes. The third and last comes from Jorge Lorenzo, who then positions himself just behind his teammate; So everything is back to normal!

Halfway through the session, Maverick Vinales even equals to the nearest thousandth the 1'30.306 of Marc Marquez, preceding Aleix Espargaro, Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Pol Espargaro et Cal Crutchlow.

The British driver then showed himself to be more than consistent, coming within a tenth of a Marc Marquez which rewards us with splendid slippage when accelerating.

This is also the case with Maverick Vinales who visibly has the bit between his teeth, which bodes well for a good comeback... The Suzuki driver takes command 5 minutes from the checkered flag by setting the best time of the weekend: 1'30.157.
Valentino Rossi immediately does the same in 1'30.131 before Marc Marquez lowers the benchmark to 1.29.897, less than a tenth ahead of the Italian driver.
