As he confided in the interview given to Marianna Giannoni for Corsedimoto.com, Danilo Petrucci has had an extremely busy schedule since leaving the Tech3 MotoGP team: the Dakar, a season in MotoAmerica for Ducati, a replacement in MotoGP for Suzuki and an enduro for leisure.

Truly, especially since neither the Dakar nor the season in MotoAmerica have not been easy, to the point that the Italian driver admitted that, yes, he would like to do the Dakar again, but not in 2023. The man from Terni needs to rest and, at 32, to think about his future. Except that between the two solutions considered, the World SBK and MotoAmerica, Ducati indicates quite clearly the direction to follow…

In World Superbike, petrux received an offer from the Barni team which is lining up Xavi Fores This year. A tempting proposition, if only because it would be a return to a world championship, no longer riding the Ducati V4R which currently leads said competition.

But, but, Ducati does not see it that way, and has clearly made this clear to the person concerned and to our colleagues at GPone through the Sports Director of Borgo Panigale, Paolo ciabatti.

« In a few days we will have to define the question. The choice is Danilo’s. For Ducati it is important to have a rider like him in America. In Mandalika, we will assess the type of technical support to be made available. Unless there is any surprise, the direction will be for Danilo to stay in MotoAmerica. We are working in this direction and it is clear that the choice of rider also depends on Ducati. We certainly don't want to take anything away from the Barnabó team, protagonist of an extraordinary season in the CIV with the victory of Pirro and Spinelli with the Ducati V4 and Ducati V2. In Superbike we already have riders like Bassani, Álvaro and Michael. Not having Danilo in America would be a problem, because there is no other rider of his level. »

Clearer message, we don't know, a bit like the racing instructions...

After celebrating his success in MotoGP last Sunday in Valencia, then attending the MotoGP test on Tuesday and attending the EICMA the next day, Paolo ciabatti flew to Mandalika in the company of Luigi Dall'Igna for the penultimate round of the Superbike world championship. The fate of Danilo Petrucci was played this weekend in Indonesia, but it already seems sealed!
