Riders in the MotoGP category had until 17 p.m. today in Qatar to have a first evolution of their fairing approved for use during the 2017 season.

The official teams Yamaha and Suzuki who adopted the principle of side bulges incorporating fins, decided to rely on the aerodynamic designs that we saw at Sepang and Phillip Island. The two Japanese manufacturers have had these fairings approved and can therefore already use them during this Qatar Grand Prix.

For their part, Ducati, Aprilia and Honda, have decided not to have their new fairings approved today and are therefore required to use the 2016 fairing without the fins. This will allow them to refine a first aerodynamic evolution, out of the two possible this year.
