Could this be the turning point in the Red Bull Rookies Cup championship? Still, David Alonso mastered his subject to perfection on Saturday afternoon to win his third victory of the season in the category. The South American, who qualified seventh on the grid, made a magnificent start to find himself in the leading group, taking with him Marcos Uriarte, who would finish second, and his championship rival David Muñoz.

The latter, even if he cedes the reins of the championship to Alonso and is now six points behind him, can still congratulate himself on having been able to save the furniture by going for a podium which was far from be acquired, especially after the long period he was forced to observe. But the Spaniard did not let himself be discouraged and put in a solid race to secure his place in the final top 3.

The leading group for a long time included no less than 14 drivers, until a crash involving three competitors separated it into two distinct subgroups. Behind the top 3, Daniel Holgado finished just off the podium, ahead of Ivan Ortolá and Diogo Moreira.
