Johann Zarco couldn't have started his Sunday better on a sun-drenched Red Bull Ring track. The ambient air already exceeds 22°, conditions that the Frenchman optimized by taking the best time in the warm-up session. Morbidelli sticks him nevertheless and Rins follows.
Given his pace which particularly excels in the fourth sector, the reigning World Champion has in mind to take flight from the start. He has the means, but it remains to be seen whether his departure will give him the means. In the meantime, here he is still at the top of the timesheet ahead Morbidely et Kidneys while Nakagami fourth finds color.
Lüthi closes the top 5 but hopes for much better while Schrotter leads the rest of the peloton ahead Alex Marquez, Baldassari and the other two disappointed in the morning who are Folger and especially Lowes. The third in the championship is tenth and still suffering on this Austrian track. The same circuit that seems to torture Simeon et Courses who bring up the rear.
