A little shy in the morning, the official Ducatis made their mark this afternoon on a track of the Red Bull Ring that was a little less cold but still barely warm. Dovizioso and Iannone charged to take control, but Viñales still resisted.
The reds were expected but less the blue Suzuki which after setting the tone in the morning remained in the game after the lunch break. Certainly, its reference was beaten by two seconds with a time of 1'23.617 achieved by Dovi, but the GSX-RR is the machine which gives the factory Desmosedici a head start, ahead of the Yamaha of Valentino Rossi.
The latter is nevertheless in a good position since still in the leading square in front of a Crutchlow best representative of a Honda clan which has made its mark. Marc Márquez is thus only tenth and just assured of not making the repechage for qualifications. Behind Pirro, the championship leader is also preceded by a Lorenzo which hardly impresses. Hector Barbera et Petrucci brilliantly complete the first part of the ranking.
The session was marked by the violent fall in Q8 ofAleix Espargaró who then went to get examined at the mobile clinic. She will detect a fracture of the left middle finger. On the disappointment side, we also find a Pedrosa anonymous nineteenth and Loris Baz, good last with a Ducati.
