The atmosphere has gone up a notch on the Red Bull Ring track, now heated to just over 20°. More favorable conditions which did not destabilize the Ducati, nor the Suzuki of Viñales. As for the Hondas, everything started well, then Márquez crashed, dislocating his left shoulder. The championship leader left the circuit to undergo medical examinations.

Austria MotoGP Chrono Pile
FP1 1'25.866 Maverick Vinales
FP2 1'23.617 Andrea Dovizioso

Things are agitated in Austria and while the HRC is suspended by the doctors' verdict, at Ducati, we continue to lead the debates. The times improved and at the end of the last qualifying session for direct entry into Q.2, it was Iannone who took the lead with a time of 1'23.327.

Equipped with a new front wing, he overcame the pain of his ribs bruised in a training accident during the break to beat his teammate Dovizioso by almost three tenths. The third man remains Casa Particular in Viñales who got the most out of his Suzuki despite the rising temperatures. Fourth place goes to a Yamaha again, but this time it belongs to Lorenzo less uncomfortable than the day before.

The top 5 is closed by Redding who is ahead Red and Aleix Espargaró heroic who rolls with a broken finger on his left hand. Hector Barbera follows and the top 10 is closed by the two HRC drivers who have come a long way. Marc Márquez in his accident could indeed have cut in two Pedrosa. The championship leader fortunately had a good entry performance which allowed him to avoid the repechage. This is on condition that the doctors give him discharge for the rest of the events. As for Pedrosa he fled in the last moments of a session where Miller et Crutchlow also fell. Loris Baz remains last.
