As the championship reaches money time, current leader David Alonso has signed two new victories, at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, and is now the arch-favorite for the title.
The Red Bull Rookies Cup entered its home stretch in Austria last weekend with the penultimate round of the season. Already leader before the start of the event, David Alonso reigned supreme in the mountains of Styria to sign two new successes this season.
Alonso doubles his lead over Munoz
A double which allows him to increase his advantage from 18 to 38 points in the championship, which could allow him to be titled in the first race during the next round. It must be said that his rival for the title, David Muñoz, did not manage to keep up the comparison throughout the weekend, losing during the first race on Saturday by finishing second, before being able to do better than sixth on the following day.
Conversely, the Austrian event allowed the Thai Tatchakorn Buasri to reveal himself to the public, the latter winning two podiums with a third and a second place. The final round of the season will take place in four weeks, on the Aragón circuit, in Spain.
