If the Austrian rounds of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup had been placed under the sign of Aleix Viu, Marc Garcia did even better in Brno since he qualified and won both races.

The weekend started very well for the young Spaniard since not only did he take pole position but those who preceded him in the championship, Sasaki, Fernandez and Viu, only appeared respectively in 5th, 3rd and 6th position, a gap between 3 and 7 tenths that number 41 intended to take advantage of during the races: “Yes, I’m happy about that. I love this track and I have a really good feeling with the bike. We haven't changed anything since the Red Bull Ring, it may not be perfect but I feel good on it and I have a very good rhythm. »

But if Marc Garcia had managed to build a gap of a few tenths on a practice lap, it was quite different during the first race, since, at the end of it, there were even 6 drivers in the same second. Better; under the checkered flag, we find the 4 championship leaders in less than 5 hundredths of a second!

“Anyone could have won it” Garcia confirms with a huge smile. “But I did it and I’m very happy.” It was a great fight the whole time in the lead, the other guys were very fast, there was just no chance of getting away from the lead. I tried at first, but it was impossible. »

Impossible? Not really since Marc Garcia managed it the next day, for the second race of the weekend. On a track that was still very wet in places, but dry in others, the Spanish driver was able to gradually build up an advantage of 3 seconds over Raul Fernandez and Ayumu Sasaki, two of the four leaders in the championship.

Mark Garcia: “I had a really good feeling on the bike and I just wanted to push as hard as possible to get away. I had good pace and wanted to create a good gap while the tires were still working well. Halfway through the race they were sliding a lot but I knew how they were doing and I had a good lead so it wasn't a problem. »
