La Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is undoubtedly the best springboard to reach the Grand Prix (a certain Johann Zarco won the first edition, in 2007), with the FIM CEV championship.

This year, it is dominated by the Japanese Kazuki Masaki in front of the Spaniard Alex Viu and Turkish twin brothers Can and Deniz Öncü, and today, the selections begin to select some of next year's participants.

It takes place over three days on the Almeria circuit, in Spain, and no less than 109 drivers from 31 different nationalities will compete in two groups.

One will take to the track on Tuesday 17th, the other on Wednesday 18th, and those who are selected at the end of the first two days will still have to fight during the final on Thursday 19th October to be among the ten drivers selected for , in 2018, join the “repeaters” of the 2017 season.

Compared to 2017 selections, more French-speaking pilots will try their luck, with Vincent Falcone, Matthieu Gregorio, Guillaume Jucha, Bartholomé Perrin, Paul Robert et Clement Rougé representing the French colors, Barry Baltus for Belgium and Jason dupasquier for Switzerland.

Note that after having had some success with his CIP team during the Japanese Grand Prix (see here), Alain Bronec skipped Australia and returned to Europe to put on his hat as Sports Speed Manager for the French Motorcycling Federation in order to advise young French riders on site. We wish them the best!
