Johann zarco showed his sublime talent by winning for the third consecutive time on the front row today in Malaysia. The fast French rookie shone with a time that left him first in the final moments of the exciting session until pole was snatched from him by just 17 thousandths of a second. Nevertheless, this very impressive result places him at the top of the hierarchy Yamaha  and tomorrow he aims to complete the overseas races with a podium.

Meanwhile, the pilot Michael van der Mark will make its MotoGP debut starting from 8rd rank on the grid after a determined performance today at the Sepang International Circuit. His impressive performances throughout the weekend have left him confident for the main event, which begins at 15:00 p.m. local time, or 08:00 a.m. in Central Europe.

Position: 2rd – Time: 1’59.229 – Laps: 7

“It is so important to start the Grand Prix on the front row of the grid, I was even expecting pole position because I was in first position for a little while at the end of Qualifying 2. I am happy because being fast on a lap is a good thing, but my pace is very competitive, so if we have dry and hot conditions tomorrow, then I think I will be able to win the race if I manage everything well. We'll see what happens weather-wise, but I'm excited to have that confidence to push like this and I have high hopes for the 17 fightrd sleeve."

Position: 22rd – Time: 2’02.376 – Laps: 5

“I'm a little disappointed with the qualifying result. This morning in FP3, we made a big step but, position-wise, I wasn't where I wanted to be, but we made further progress. In the afternoon I had a problem with the rear grip and then on the first lap I struggled with the new tire. On the second outing I felt better, but at the fifth turn I lost the front without warning. It's difficult to accept and I feel sorry for the team because we are improving steadily every session, but an accident is not what you want. The crash was due to a number of things and the track temperature was high, plus I don't have much experience of that. Everyone was fast and this morning you can see I was only two seconds from the top, which was good and promising. I was hoping to take another step towards the group right in front of me because there are only a few tenths left. Now we have to work because the rear of the bike turns too much when exiting corners and that is the main factor to focus on. Anyway, tomorrow is race day, and I'm going to gain a lot of experience but hopefully I can fight with a few riders and enjoy the moment. »
