Aprilia Racing and the FMI put young riders on track on the new RS 250 SP.

Registrations are open for the FMI Aprilia Sport Production Italian championship: five double races on the calendar, with a first test at Mugello on May 9 on the occasion of the big Aprilia All Stars party. A fun and accessible category was born, to bring out the best Italian talents.

Verona, January 18, 2020 – With the opening of registrations for the 2020 FMI Aprilia Sport Production Italian Championship, the Aprilia “School of Champions” is reborn.

The new national championship, strongly desired by Aprilia Racing and the Federazione Motociclistica Italiana, continues the thread of a unique history which has seen Noale's motorcycles accompany entire generations of young people on the track to start practicing motorcycling and to grow absolute champions like Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi and Valentino Rossi.

The project fits perfectly into the FMI chain dedicated to very young riders, from Minimoto to the National Speed ​​Championship, and represents a new proposition in the Italian landscape. The strong points are the affordable costs, the direct involvement of Aprilia Racing and a motorcycle designed specifically to facilitate and promote the progressive development of young talents.

From the age of eleven, girls and boys will compete on the Aprilia RS 250 SP, designed and developed by Aprilia Racing in collaboration with Ohvale for track use. Powered by a 250 cc 4T single-cylinder engine, the RS 250 SP exploits all the know-how and technology of Noale's racing department and is equipped with the best racing components (Öhlins suspension, Brembo brakes, SC Project exhaust) for seeking the best weight/power ratio, weighing around 35 kg less than the RS 125 road model. The 17″ Marchesini wheels will be equipped with Pirelli tires. High-level technical equipment which is an integral part of the technical regulations, with the aim of ensuring maximum balance, so that it is the drivers with their talent who stand out and not the different preparation of the vehicles in the race.

Produced by technical partner Ohvale, a leading company in the small motorcycle market in the Veneto region, the Aprilia RS 250 SP is on sale at the absolutely competitive price of 9 euros plus VAT, a figure that contributes to reaching the he most important objective of the FMI Aprilia Sport Production Italian Championship, namely to make motorcycling accessible to the greatest number of enthusiasts.

To participate in the FMI Italian Sports Production Championship, you only need to be at least 11 years old and hold the FMI Miniroad license (up to 13 years old) or the FMI Velocità license (from 14 years old). To register, simply go to www.civ.tv and complete the appropriate forms available in the CIV Junior section.

Registration for the Championship has a reduced cost of 1200 euros plus VAT, while registration for individual races (wildcard) costs 250 euros plus VAT.

The Italian champion FMI Aprilia Sport Production will be part of a project managed by Aprilia Racing in favor of the growth and development of the sport, and is the first step in any professional career. Still with this in mind, Federmoto will offer the winner of the 2020 edition free entry to a 2021 FMI Championship.

The first edition of the new championship is part of the program of the CIV Junior Italian Speed ​​Championship and will take place over a calendar of five events, each of which will include two races, preceded by two free practice sessions and two qualifying sessions. It starts in Varano on June 7, followed by Modena (July 5), Magione (July 19), Ortona (September 6) and Adria (October 19).

Before the start of the championship, there will be a day of free and compulsory testing for all registered drivers. A very special day, and on a world-class circuit, Mugello, which will be held on Saturday May 9 in conjunction with the big Aprilia All Stars party. Thus, all the young people at the start will have the chance to take their first steps on the RS 250 SP, followed by federal technicians and “coach” pilots provided by Aprilia Racing.
