Jorge Lorenzo suffered all weekend at the Sachsenring. This route has never pleased the Majorcan in the past since he has never won there. However, the cold and the rain further disrupted the plans of the Yamaha rider who begins the summer break 48 points behind his rival for the title, Marc Marquez.

“I don’t think the Championship is over. There are still nine races left, I am less than 50 points and a lot can happen,” explains Lorenzo. “Especially with electronics and new tires, errors are more frequent. We must continue to believe in it and, above all, think about what we can work on to be competitive. I didn't expect to encounter so much difficulty with the Michelins in different conditions. I don't have that feeling at the front which would allow me to feel comfortable in curves. »

Lorenzo still admits to being satisfied with his start to the race, much better than this morning's warmup, "I didn't lose the tenths that I lost in the warmup and I thought I would be able to fight in the middle of the pack . When the track dried out, I lost confidence and the gap widened. »

For the moment, the Mallorcan cannot understand why he suffered so much this weekend, and in the race. “I was 13th and then moved up to 8th when everyone went to the box. » At that moment, Lorenzo preferred not to repeat his past mistakes. He waited for the signal from his team to return, “I started again on intermediate tires, but it was already too late. Before the race, I didn't think the track would dry and I didn't anticipate the possibility of going out on slicks. We didn't work on this before the race, and this is what we will have to work on in the future. »

Between now and the next meeting in Austria (and the test which will be held this week on the same track), Lorenzo and his team will try to understand.
“I have to understand what happened to be so slow, regardless of the conditions, and know if it comes from my driving style which is different from others. I didn't expect to struggle so much, in the wet and in the cold, with the Michelins. »

At the same time, the reigning Champion is looking for a solution to train in the wet, “Maybe I could train on smaller bikes on a wet track. I don't know if that would help me, to see. »
