Jorge Lorenzo didn't really like the Sachsenring until then. And it is only the visit he is making there this weekend that will reconcile him with the site of the German Grand Prix. While he was hoping to recover from two complicated meetings, he could experience a worse fate than that experienced three weeks ago in Assen. The fall is harder for Por Fuera.

An expression to be used literally and figuratively for the three-time Yamaha World Champion. A fall on Friday at turn 11, another during Q.1 at turn 8 and a small last one for the road during Q.2 at turn 1. It's not really a course that marks out a path towards total trust. Furthermore, the Majorcan explodes a bad statistic as far as he is concerned. While, since 2012, he has never fallen more than three times in a season, this year, he has already had eight falls. Including three in two days.

A spiral that draws you into the abyss when it would take good synergy to get back 24 points behind a Marc Márquez who likes to be untouchable on a field where he will aim, on Sunday, for his seventh achievement in a row. However, Por Fuera knows what is happening to him. He is a spectator of his misfortune: “ I had the same tires as everyone else so for sure I must have done something wrong. Yesterday I pushed too hard on a cold track, today, during my first fall I hit the kerb, which is not recommended with the Michelins whereas it was possible with the Bridgestones. And for my third fall, I hadn't heated the right side of the tire enough and I lost the front ».

« So I made three mistakes and it's not normal because I don't usually make that many mistakes. But this weekend, it happened. I am disappointed with these accidents, as I am with my position on the grid. But in the end, I could see big progress on the bike ". This Lorenzo is definitely astonishing. He explains : " we progressed in each session and in Q.1 we were competitive with the new tires. With the times I was doing, we could hope to finish fifth. But there I was, I fell ". And then there is also something else: “ we made a mistake with the settings. We tried something and went back. We lost some time and a bit of thread. All these complications put us far on the grid ».

And for tomorrow? Rest assured, all is not lost: “ The race is on Sunday and I'm happy that we have identified all our problems. I prefer to fall two or three times while being more or less competitive rather than not falling and not being competitive at all ". And the dreaded rain gets involved? “ We'll see how I'll be. Not having any preconceptions about the track, being positive and trying to feel good on the bike ". With Lorenzo, everything is definitely a question of mentality. And it is a monument that awaits him since among his 64 career successes, none have been celebrated on the Sachsenring.
