Fabio Quartararo fractured the radius of his wrist during the Austrian Grand Prix.

After what can be considered as a trial run at Silverstone, during which the French driver nevertheless managed to get within the points gate despite great pain, the young Nice native had clearly set his sights on Misano to find a speed placing him in the first third of the field.

After a mixed first day (9th in FP1, 24th in FP2), the one we nicknamed El Diablo was able to reach a level that was both high and regular corresponding to his initial objective, ranking 10th in FP3 then 10th during the qualification, despite still very present pain.

Once his leather was removed, the Moto2 rookie confided in us.

fabio quartararo : “The start of the weekend in Misano is quite good since we finished 23rd in qualifying at Silverstone and there we finished 10th. So I think I'm starting to get back into my rhythm and have a good feeling. It's positive. Tomorrow we'll see since normally it will be rainy conditions, but I'm happy to have had good weather today. »

When you return to your box, you can see that you are still suffering a lot from your incomplete double fracture of the radius. You also drive with a bandage. Will rain constitutions be easier from a physical point of view?

“Physically, yes! But even though I like the rain, I would prefer to race in the dry. It's paradoxical because this circuit, with my injured hand, is one of the circuits where I suffer the most. In any case, more than at Silverstone. »

Do you compensate for this weakness by working more with your legs?

" Yes Yes Yes. I felt it especially at Silverstone and my legs really hurt. Usually, we work of course with the legs but also with the arms. At Silverstone, I almost only worked with my legs. So of course, this fracture remains a negative thing, but it taught me a lot of positive things for the future. »

Do you have a specific goal for tomorrow?

" Not really. I just want to try to have a good race. I managed to set a good pace today in the dry, and so I know I have good potential this weekend. So we'll see tomorrow in the rain if we can have a good race. »
