An hour before the start of the morning practice session, rain began to fall on the Misano circuit. The air temperature was 19° and that of the track 18°. The trail was uniformly wet. Almost all of the drivers took to the track to adjust their machines for the wet. Penalties involving a drop of 12 places on the grid were announced for Enea Bastianini (the pole man), Tony Arbolino, Niccolo Antonelli, Ayumu Sasaki, Kaito Toba and Tatsuki Suzuki, for driving too slowly during the qualifying session .
