Just over four tenths separated Loris Baz from a place among the top ten in the three free practice sessions for the San Marino Grand Prix. Faced with such a tight ranking, the task looked delicate for the French driver who had to go through the repechage session.
Yet at the forefront, the Haut-Savoyard finally failed at the gates of Q2 with a time of 1'33.946. However, he remains convinced that he has all the cards in hand to collect valuable points when passing under the checkered flag, especially if rain is on the program of hostilities...
Loris Baz (15th) :
“It was a positive day overall. We rode quite well and we took the opportunity to evaluate certain settings which worked well. In qualifying, I had good pace, but I couldn't find a wheel to get the two or three tenths that could have made the difference. During my last attempt, I almost lost the front, a mistake which cost me some time. I think that would have been enough to secure a place in Q2. It is very difficult to complete perfect laps here, because the track is very slippery. The ranking is very tight, but I am satisfied with what we managed to do. The forecast calls for violent thunderstorms for Sunday. Despite everything, I hope that the weather will allow us to ride in good conditions. We will take advantage of the warm-up to adapt. I am confident, because we have a good base of settings for the wet and we will have a big chance to play. I will be in the fog of the drivers in front at the start, but faced with this kind of situation, we will have to be more intelligent. »
