Dovizioso did not fail on Italian soil for his second national Grand Prix after his sublime victory at Mugello, qualifying on the front row in the company of his two main opponents in the Championship Maverick Vinales and Marc Marquez. It was joy at Ducati, whose headquarters in Bologna are only about 120 km from Misano.
Andrea has been of exemplary consistency since the first day of free practice, which he finished in third position, just 0.063 behind the leader. Danilo Petrucci and 0.058 of Maverick Vinales, which is the equivalent of a thin sheet of paper.
On Saturday morning, FP3 was a little less brilliant (1'33.334 against 1'33.294 the day before), but his time on Friday was enough for Dovi to maintain fifth performance in the standings behind Marquez, Vinales, Petrucci and Crutchlow.
In qualifying, Andrea secured a good second place, which will allow him to start from the middle of the first row of the starting grid, between Vinales and Marquez. A royal first line, which brings together the first three in the provisional ranking of the World Championship.
Andrea is the only driver who has 4 victories this year under his belt. He still hasn't achieved a pole position this year, but it shouldn't be long, he has already started from the front row twice in Mugello and in Austria. His second place in timed practice this Saturday at Misano is all the more meritorious as this track does not have the reputation of being favorable to Ducati. But the tide may be turning...
To Andrea Dovizioso, who are " I'm really happy with this start on the front line! To be honest, second place was a bit unexpected because we worked a lot during FP4 with worn tires and I didn't have a great feeling with the bike.
“But when we started the qualifying session, I realized we could be very fast. So I concentrated on getting the best from the second tire.
