As the drivers took to the track to determine the two fastest who would qualify, the air temperature was 25° and the track temperature was 40°.

During the first run, the fastest initially was Alvaro Bautista in 1'34.128, 0.2 ahead of Tito Rabat, 0.3 ahead of Alex Rins and 0.5 ahead of Loris Baz. Sam Lowes fell without seriousness for the fourth time this weekend.

Alvaro Bautista secured his first position in 1'33.563, ahead of Jack Miller, Tito Rabat and Loris Baz. Alex Rins' time was canceled for exceeding the track limits. Just before all the drivers returned to the pits, Jonas Folger moved up to third position, behind Bautista and Miller.

During the second and final run, Pol Espargaro fell without gravity in the first corner with his KTM. Jack Miller improved the best time to 1'33.548. He was ahead of Alvaro Bautista by 0.01. Loris Baz was third.

Then Jonas Folger took first place in 1'33.287. Alvaro Bautista and Karel Abraham were ultimately the two qualified, ahead of Hector Barbera and Jack Miller whose best time had been canceled (limits), as had that of Jonas Folger.
