If more or less all the riders complained about a lack of acceleration of their bikes last year, this year the role of “loud mouth” on the subject essentially fell to Cal Crutchlow. At least, until Assen, because it seems that the rediscovered competitiveness of Valentino Rossi's Yamaha has loosened tongues, starting with those found in the number 93 box...

Thus, Marc Márquez, despite the use of the big bang engine, does not expect a big improvement on the subject before next year (see here).

Echoing the words of the person himself, Santi Hernández, head of Marc Márquez's technical team, also recognizes that the RC213V “lack of acceleration” but that “this is not linked to the engine, which would not have enough power”.

The Spanish technician, in an interview with Movistar MotoGP, confirms that for Honda the priority is to “gain grip” for " have better cornering, take advantage of the speed and avoid problems with the rear of the bike when exiting a corner.”

“These problems handicap us in terms of electronics, because they cut a lot because of the movements and we have to reduce the power. This is where we must progress, but it is not easy and we must continue to work. With each race, we understand more and we get closer to what we want to achieve.”

Honda's problem therefore does not come from the engine, which would have been surprising given the cult traditionally devoted to it by the Tokyo firm, but rather from the cycle part which does not allow the power to be transferred when exiting a corner. .

Next weekend, on a German circuit where Marc Márquez has always shone, will be the opportunity to judge whether the Honda can still do it in the face of the progress of the Yamaha...
