The hopefuls of the VR46 Riders Academy benefit from comprehensive training, in the field of motorcycle sport of course, but also in very varied areas such as foreign languages (especially English), physical preparation, dirt track and even dietetics.

In this last field, it is the famous endocrinologist Fabrizio Angelini, who works in football with Francesco Totti in particular, who is responsible for the training of young pilots from the VR46 Riders Academy.

For Lorenzo Baldassarri and Luca Marini, who ride for the Forward team in Moto2, the balanced diet advocated by Professor Angelini is important: “The general rule is to choose the healthiest foods, but nothing is really off-limits. However, he seeks to limit the intake of alcohol, fat and sugar… so, all that good » smiled Baldassarri.

“My regime is quite free, but within the Academy, all the pilots have a different one according to their needs, explains Marini. I have to eat a lot and often because I struggle to get all the calories I need. For the rest, I have no particular limits, I have to be careful with sushi and spirits. »

This concerns the general diet, which is different during races, especially at midday before the test sessions. “ Rice or white pasta with a little chicken is then the rule, we try to eat more carbohydrates. During dinner we can replenish ourselves by eating more."

For the races, “ Staying well hydrated is very important and we really need to drink a lot, both water and mineral supplements » says Marini. Sunday evening is the most anticipated meal, because they can eat whatever they want. So Baldassarri always chooses “ ice cream and the cake that I like the most » while Marini prefers “ fries with lots of ketchup ! "
