A girl from India and a guy from Venezuela. What they have in common is a love of motorcycles and a desire to race in MotoGP. Along with over a hundred other teenagers from around the world, they will meet in Guadix, Spain, on October 15, 16 and 17, to show their skills during the Red Bull MotoGP Cup selection.

Three days on a circuit in Spain is their first step towards competition stardom, the same step taken by world champions like Brad Binder, Jorge Martín and Joan Mir who have since exercised their talents in Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP and who, with other ex-rookies, are heading towards the 100th Grand Prix victory.

How does it work.

These are therefore three decisive days for these young drivers. The total number of participants is divided into 2 groups, the first half of which will ride divided into seven groups on the first day, each on identical 250cc PreMoto3 machines. Each group will have a morning session of around fifteen minutes and will be monitored by four judges who have been involved in Grand Prix racing for several decades.

A second session in the afternoon will give the young people a new opportunity and, at the end of the day, the selection committee will review their observations and draw up the list of drivers who will be invited to return for the third day. Day 2 will see the second half take to the track and the schedule will be repeated.

On the third day, the selected riders will be back on the track for the third and fourth sessions, observed in a similar manner. Then, the Final Selection Committee will establish the list of 10 to 12 riders who will be invited to participate in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup for 2020. They will join the riders who will continue after this season.

Even if it doesn't work.

It's an important moment for these young talents and tensions are high. It's also a fantastic experience in itself, a celebration of fun and speed. Those who fail to be selected will be able to reapply next year. No matter what happens, they will learn more about themselves and they will have had the opportunity to meet 100 other people from around the world who share the same dreams.

There's still time to vote for your driver to wear the golden bib.
