We have already highlighted the very good 5th place of Loris Baz obtained at the end of the Malaysian Grand Prix, and it would be unfair to overlook the 4th of his teammate. Indeed, both the Avintia team and Hector Barbera scored their best result in MotoGP at Sepang, at the end of a race which took place on a wet track.

As a reminder, just before the start, a tropical storm hit the Malaysian circuit and, after around fifteen minutes to let the worst of the storm pass, the start was given in heavy rain. For the Avintia drivers, this was good news, given their performances during qualifying.

After a cautious start, the Avintia drivers began to move up the standings, with Loris Baz leading the duo. When the quantity of water reduced, Hector Barbera got the better of the French driver to cross the finish line a good two seconds ahead of him. A very comforting result for those who did not know how to seize their chance when replacing them on the official Ducati.

And the Valencia driver, through his words, far from enjoying solitary pleasure, knows how to share his joy and show a big heart when talking about Loris Baz and his team. Nice speech Mr. Barbera!

Hector Barbera: “ I'm really happy because this fourth place is incredible, and it's also my best result in MotoGP since I started. After two tough races in Japan and Australia, I really needed this result to boost my confidence and energy before my home race in Valencia. There is no doubt that this result came at the right time. But although I am very happy for myself, I am also extremely happy for my teammate Loris, because he needed it, even more than me. This result is fantastic for the whole team. We are showing this season that with hard work, great effort and enormous passion you can achieve big things. Avintia is the best example, because we don't have the resources of many teams, but in passion, we are world champions. We are in the top ten after 17 races, ahead of many of the factory bikes, and we head to Valencia determined to give our best again to conclude this fantastic season with the best possible result. »
