After the chaos of a Moto3 with a record number of falls, the Moto2 set off on a Sepang track watered by a heavy downpour shortly before the wild animals were released. Hostile conditions not really ideal for securing the title of World Champion. It was therefore said that nothing would be easy for Zarco installed in pole position. And the Frenchman did not disappoint.

The drivers had barely been released from the starting grid when the first balancing acts were offered to us with first a jostle without consequences between Lüthi et Baldassari. Then Pasini opened the list of falls followed very closely by a Sam Lowes a few turns further. The British promised us a fiery overseas campaign. A real damp squib. Axel Pons then offered himself a trick while he was installed in a good fourth position. Wilairot also tasted the wet bitumen of Sepang against his will.
A series which then stopped and during which Morbidely had taken control of the operations while not failing to get some good heat. Behind, zarco was in his wheel and followed by a Folger who still enjoys these precarious conditions.
Nope! Don't do that @FrankyMorbido12 🙈
12 laps to go & Zarco patiently holding back in 2nd… #MalaysianGP https://t.co/0EV87s3sHZ

With nine laps to go, it was clear that victory would be decided between these three as the sun returned to the Sepang site, drying the track to better torture the rain tires of the machines. Lüthi was stuck in seventh place struggling with the overexcited local Syahrin, Marini et Baldassari. Kidneys was eleventh.
Six laps from the checkered flag, the Frenchman attacked the Italian and took off for a sixth success of the year, synonymous with a second consecutive Moto2 title. zarco taught the lesson and can enter MotoGP with his head held high by crossing the Tech3 awning for a good Yamaha.

Morbidely et Folger complete the podium while the rest of the peloton is settled by Baldassari while Syahrin lands a top 5 in front of his audience. Lüthi is sixth and Kidneys fourteenth. Virgin brings the points for eighth place to the Mistral 610 by setting the best time in the race. In short, a beautiful Sunday for the tricolors!
Richly, richly deserved! #2arco
