One of the great innovations of the Moto3 grid in 2017 will be the presence of the SIC58 Squadra Corse, Paolo Simoncelli's team to honor the memory of his son Marco, who died at Sepang in 2011.
The team is not new, since it has cut its teeth since 2013 in the Italian Championship (CIV), then, from 2016 in the FIM CEV Repsol Junior World Championship, with 9th place in Tony Arbolino in the end, following a victory and a second place.
Paolo Simoncelli, still marked and very reserved since the tragedy that occurred, explains: “The project excites me because, since we started, the goal was to be in the World Cup. Now that we have reached it, we have the hope of making a good start with Tatsuki Suzuki, a rider who has already raced there in Moto3 and who has a lot of potential, as well as Arbolino, a boy who has been with us since we have started; he is very talented, but it will be a learning year for him. »
Otherwise, Charles Pernat told us that he would bring his experience to help Paolo Simoncelli and the SIC58 Squadra Corse have their first year in Grand Prix. We remember that Andrea Iannone's agent had already helped the FMI Moto3 team a few years ago, before focusing exclusively on his fiery pilot...
Here is the team's philosophy: “We want to be a school of thought beyond a school that trains young athletes, we want that when these talents, in the future, need a helping hand, they look for it and they can find it above all in themselves, of something that we have taught them. We want people to be able to say: who is this pilot? Ah but... he's coming from Sic's school!!! »
