Following the Czech Republic Grand Prix, it is interesting to note that despite the very spectacular photos of certain Michelin front tires having lost entire sections of rubber, we were not entitled to a very virulent accusation against from the French manufacturer.

For this, of course, a good reason, since the responsibility for this state of affairs ultimately fell to almost all of the drivers who had opted for the soft tire, more efficient but less durable than its hard counterpart, with a view to 'a 'flag to flag' race that never happened.

Even Andrea Dovizioso, who was forced to retire due to the failure of his front mount, was quite measured in his remarks, some extracts of which we reproduce here (see full text): " I was the first to have a problem with the front tire. So okay, we had to go up the hard way and few riders did it. They bet and they won, but considering the experiences at Assen and Sachsenring where grip was low, it seemed impossible. Now we need more options in the rain because seeing tires go to shreds is dangerous...

The two possibilities offered were too far apart. There was the extra soft of the Sachsenring and the hard at the start of the season…

Michelin works a lot, including on rain tires, and tries to satisfy us all. With the experience gained, things will be better next year."

Well no; Michelin did not wait until next year and will offer a medium rain tire from the next Grand Prix at Silverstone, according to comments from Piero Taramasso in the Spanish press: “As we expect it to be colder, we don't know yet if we will bring just the soft and medium, or all three. But it is certain that we will bring the medium. »

Thus, once again, Bibendum does not deny his famous reactivity. Even if, a priori, the British weekend does not really look rainy...
