Silverstone, Moto2, FP1: Lowes and the rain

The sky is still British for this first Moto2 test session at Silverstone; gray and cold (16°) for the season.

Brno came to remind everyone that nothing is ever won in advance. So, while Johann zarco dominated the world rankings and the Czech test sessions, it only took one race in the wet for the French driver, although skilled on this terrain, to see his advantage drop by 15 points over alex rins to stabilize at 19 units. Undoubtedly, the tension is a little greater in England, even if there is no danger yet for the Ajo driver's second world title.

Here are the references available at the start of this FP1:

FP1 2'08.461 Johann zarco
FP2 2'08.004 Sam Lowes
FP3 2'06.932 alex rins
QP 2'06.345 Sam Lowes
Best lap 2'06.345 Sam Lowes

Sam Lowes, local to the stage, immediately put on a show by registering a 2'09.346 but also by losing the front of his Kalex at Copse without falling. He thus maintains an advantage of at least 2 tenths over Tom Luthi, Alex Marquez, Jonas Folger, Takaaki Nakagami and Johann Zarco, until the rain, expected only Saturday afternoon, made a premature appearance leading to the fall of Lorenzo Baldassarri.

The session will ultimately end there, all the drivers having only completed half a dozen laps, with the exception of Zarco who did as many laps in the rain.
