Blue sky, low sun, 22° in the air and 24° on the track, these are the ingredients on the menu for this MotoGP warm up in Jerez, to which should be added the warnings posed by the falls which took place during of previous minutes in Moto3 and Moto2.

Will this morning session allow us to see the Yamahas return to the forefront? Will it be the same for the pale red Ducatis at the moment, despite the questionable progress of Jorge Lorenzo? What about the fickle Iannone and his Suzuki? What will the fiery Aleix Espargaro do on the handlebars of his Aprilia? Is the big bang engine the miracle recipe for KTM?

Here are some of the questions that may be answered during this warm-up session, but the most important one obviously concerns Dani Titanium Pedrosa who, since working with Sete Gibernau, has for several weeks demonstrated an assurance, even a serenity, rarely seen in recent months: can the one who usually acts as a foil to Marc Márquez maintain his domination until the end of the weekend?

Jorge Lorenzo sets a first milestone in 1'39.433 followed by Maverick Vinales et Cal Crutchlow.

During the first half of the session, many of them work without necessarily looking for the clock. So Marc Marquez only appears seventh, Valentino Rossi (who tests a hard front) ninth, Dani Pedrosa tenth, Jonas Folger 12th, Johann zarco 18th, etc.

Eight minutes from the checkered flag, Maverick Vinales (hard front) equalizes, to the nearest thousandth, Jorge Lorenzo's time.

The following laps hardly change and you have to wait until the last two minutes to see Dani Pedrosa start to light up in red (best time of the session in this sector) and in orange (best personal time of the session in this sector) but this only brings him back to seventh position.

In the end, it seems that no one really wanted to take the risk of falling in conditions quite different from those expected this afternoon, and that everyone preferred to work on their final adjustments in preparation for the race...

We will nevertheless notice that no less than 18 drivers appear in the same second, which bodes well for a very competitive race at 14 p.m.
