Although we read hundreds of press releases every month, we are always amazed by the way they are sometimes written.

Let's go over the "We" traditionally used by riders even though, until proven otherwise, they seem alone on the handlebars of their motorcycle, and let's take a look at the one broadcast yesterday by Ducati in presentation of the Spanish Grand Prix.

“Last year's Spanish Grand Prix did not bring much success for Andrea Dovizioso who had to retire on his 10th lap, while Jorge Lorenzo, who will celebrate his 30th birthday on Thursday at Jerez, finished second under the flag, after starting from second place on the grid. »

Either. However, it seems surprising to us to talk about Jorge Lorenzo's performance last year when he was riding for Yamaha, and Ducati had a second rider, who crossed the line in seventh position. But of this plague, not a word in this press release from a manufacturer which therefore puts more emphasis on its drivers than its machines.

We don't judge, but we are simply surprised...

To close this aside and return to the main subject, the atmosphere does not seem to be very optimistic among the reds since, despite the private tests carried out here and announced as positive in their time, Andrea Dovizioso expects a difficult race on the circuit that has never really smiled on the Ducati.

Andrea Dovizioso, 4th, 30 points: “we are finally back in Europe and despite the fact that we did a one-day test on this circuit a month ago, I don't really know what to expect from this race in Jerez. After the first three rounds of the season, our results are not satisfactory enough because we thought we would be faster this year, but, with the exception of the race in Qatar, this has not been the case until now. In any case, we are all working to change the situation and although the Jerez track is one of the most difficult for me and Ducati, I will fight hard in Spain to try to get back on the podium. »

On Jorge Lorenzo's side, we will do our best, without setting a quantified objective...

Jorge Lorenzo, 13th, 12 points: “We arrive in Spain after three rather complicated races for us, but we have always taken small steps forward during the last rounds. Jerez is one of my favorite tracks, I have great memories of it and I have had a number of victories there, but it is also true to say that it is not the most favorable track for Ducati. We are analyzing all the data, including from the recent test at this circuit, to continue working on the bike and improve our competitiveness. I can't wait to feel the warm support of the Spanish crowd and to ride the Ducati for the first time in front of my fans. »
