Ducati's racing department is so prolific that one new thing would tend to overshadow another.

At the moment, it is the spoiler fixed under the swinging arm, or rather its method of approval, which is fueling the debates in the paddock and Honda's hostility. So, during this time, the “magic button” that has appeared since this winter on the GP 19s is quietly doing its job during standing starts…

On this video extract broadcast by the official MotoGP.com website, we see its action quite clearly: when Jack Miller turns the knob after getting up from the saddle so as not to interfere with the operation of the mechanism, the rear suspension suddenly lowers and, more than likely, stiffens noticeably.

The result is a lower center of gravity and an almost blocked rear suspension, all of which allows a little more power to be used during standing starts despite the limitation due to wheeling.

As we could see previously, the system unlocks automatically at the first braking.

Today, Alex Rins et Cal Crutchlow gently mock this novelty brought by Ducati to MotoGP, but we will obviously not forget that the British rider had exactly the same attitude towards the wings reintroduced by the Borgo Panigale firm a few years ago: “Honda doesn't need that as much as some opponents. In the first Qatar Test we had something and even now we have something in that direction. But our bike is good enough without it. We are not testing in this direction at the moment” .

We know the rest…
