Introduced by Ducati last year, the Holeshot Device was initially designed to lower the center of gravity during starts. This counters the tendency to wheelie and therefore allows more power to be put to the ground.

Little by little, always according to the same principle, it was also used when exiting corners. For this, it has been made easier to use, and the control wheels have gradually given way to mini levers on the left handlebar.

This is for example the case on Yamahas, as we see in this photo.

This now gives impressive trim differences, as we could see during free practice at Misano.

Below, Maverick Vinales during “normal” acceleration…

To compare with Valentino Rossi, two fingers on the mini lever… And the rear of the M1 completely crushed.

Did Valentino Rossi use this technique to set the best time this morning in FP3? Only the Doctor's box knows this, but some drivers are even starting to try to use this system when braking, to delay the rear wheel from lifting off.

PS: Thanks to Taufik for spotting the photo 😉
