We didn't see it in the race but it was there during testing: a brand new frame for Marc Márquez's RC213V with carbon reinforcements and inserts.

Until now, Honda had sporadically used carbon for its chassis as a sort of second skin to add to the aluminum, like the Suzuki GSX-RR last year (it should be noted in passing that the firm of Hamamatsu seemed to have abandoned this solution for the first Grand Prix of the 2020 season).

Honda, therefore, first presented a similar solution on the motorcycle Stefan Bradl at the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix before being tried by Marc Márquez during the next test, still on the Jerez route, then to obtain the pole position in Austria at the Red Bull Ring.

This time, this new Honda 2020 frame seems to present additional inserts in a very specific area, a bit like certain solutions tried by Ducati in 2018.
On the GP18s, the carbon was “embedded” in the aluminum of the frame. There, we seem to have a more differentiated setup.

Marc Márquez tried it last Friday before returning to a more classic system for qualifying and the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix.

This frame should be tested again at the end of the week during the second consecutive Grand Prix in Jerez but the withdrawal of the multiple Spanish champion postpones these tests to an undetermined date for the moment. However, we can think that Austria would lend itself well to a new test, given pole position acquired last year with a similar solution promoting vertical rigidity...
